GFWC STONE MOUNTAIN WOMAN'S CLUB
COMMUNITY SERVICE SINCE 1929
Stone Mountain Woman’s Club Night Guild
Stone Mountain Woman’s Club (SMWC) is a community service organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service in our community. Our members work together to improve woman’s health, preserve natural resources, promote literacy and equality, and work to address domestic violence. Our goal is to improve our community, not simply with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that provide immediate impact. And it’s a great way to meet new people!
Members of the Night Guild are full members of Stone Mountain Woman’s Club—we just plan our activities for the evenings and weekend! We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7 pm at the SMWC club house, (5513 E Mountain St, Stone Mountain, GA 30083).

FAQ
What is the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club?
The Stone Mountain Woman’s Club is part of the Georgia chapter of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs, an international woman’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Founded in 1896, GFWC Georgia has been helping women across the state address issues that affect their communities—supporting woman’s health, preserving natural resources, promoting literacy and equality, citizen advocacy, and encouraging volunteer service. In 1929, eleven women joined together to organize the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club, with the initial goal of cleaning up the debris and soot from the freight trains that came through town. Since then, our members have worked to improve the health of women, build fellowship, and address issues important to them in our community, including supporting GFWC Georgia’s signature project to address domestic violence.
What is the Night Guild of the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club?
Recognizing that some members of the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club are not able to attend meetings or events during the day, a Night Guild was formed in 2012. Members of the Night Guild are full club members—we meet once a month for a working meeting (hands on project) or a social outing within our community.
What does the Night Guild of Stone Mountain Woman’s Club do?
We provide opportunities for our members to make a positive difference in our community while connecting with others. It’s a great way to volunteer and to meet new people. As part of the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club, we participate in club events, but meet in the evenings to provide opportunities for members who aren’t available during the day.
What kind of volunteer does the Night Guild do in the community?
We work on a variety of projects. Examples include supporting Wellspring Living (a local non-profit providing domestic sex trafficking victims with recovery services), providing lunch for a youth shelter and supporting a bakery that provides special needs adults a place to learn a skill and develop a sense of accountability and pride. We also participate in activities with the day group, including the Annual Garden. And we’re always looking for new ideas! Let us know if you have community organization that could use our support!
Do members have to live in Stone Mountain?
No! Our members live all around the area, including Tucker and Lilburn. There may be woman’s club closer to your home, but even if there is, we’d love to have you join the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club!
How much does it cost to be a member?
Dues are set each year by club leadership and are currently $75/year for night members.
Where and when does the Night Guild meet?
We usually meet at the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club house on the third Tuesday of the month, but we also plan events outside of the club house (e.g., dinners out) and on other nights.
What is required of Night Guild members?
All members of the Night Guild of the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club participate with the rest of the Club in two fund raising activities—baking items to sell at the Yellow Daisy Festival (in September) and the annual Tour of Homes (in December)—and we have a monthly meeting of the Night Guild one evening a month. Beyond that, members of the Night Guild can choose to participate in a variety of other activities, like GFWC’s Day of Service collecting shoes for Soles 4 Souls, supporting the Tallulah Falls school, and other fellowship activities like our summer picnic for club members.
How is the Night Guild different from the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club day group?
Members of the Night Guild are full members of Stone Mountain Woman’s Club—we just plan our activities for the evenings and weekend! The Stone Mountain Woman’s Club day meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month when most of us aren’t available; however, as members of club we’re able to attend day meetings and events if we’re able.
How do I learn more or become a member of the Night Guild?
